David is a British and European Patent Attorney, and a registered Unified Patent Court representative.
David’s practice encompasses patent drafting, prosecution, and opposition, as well as registered designs.
Having received a Master of Physics degree from the University of Oxford, David has expertise in handling patent applications in a variety of technical areas relating to the physical sciences.
In particular, David has significant experience working with inventions arising from advanced physics-based research, as well as mechanical and medical devices.
David seeks to provide a bespoke personal service, whether guiding direct clients through what can be a complex process of applying for patent protection while understanding its commercial relevance, or assisting overseas attorneys with the intricacies of British and European patent practice. He has experience of handling international filing programmes and managing prosecution of global families of patent applications.
David’s work often involves navigating the opposition procedure at the European Patent Office, whether on the side of the opponent or patent proprietor. David has experience assessing the merits of an opposition, preparing and filing an opposition or defence, and managing the procedure through to the oral proceedings and subsequent appeal.
David is a member of the UK Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys' International Liaison Committee. In the past, David has been the lead member of the committee for Korea.
David is also a member of AIPPI.
