Peter is a UK and European Patent Attorney. His practice encompasses drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the UK, Europe and further afield. Peter also has experience representing clients in opposition proceedings before the EPO, acting on behalf of opponents and proprietors, as well as in validity proceedings before the UKIPO.
Peter works across a broad range of mechanical and chemical technologies, including, amongst others, construction materials, building and architectural systems, machine tools and accessories, healthcare and hygiene products and equipment and processes for materials fabrication. Peter has represented a wide variety of clients, from individual inventors, start-ups and SMEs to multinational companies.
Before qualifying as a Patent Attorney, Peter enjoyed several years in research, in both industry and academia.
Peter obtained a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Bath, which included a research position at a major global pharmaceutical company. He then completed a PhD in Materials Chemistry at University College London, where his research focussed on the development of molecular precursors for the fabrication of functional materials by chemical vapour deposition. He spent further time in post-doctoral research at UCL, developing sustainable processes for the manufacture of optoelectronic nanomaterials and thin films.
Peter brings this first-hand experience in industrial and academic research to his patent practice, helping clients to identify patentable aspects of their research and navigate the patenting process.
